An e-mail follow-up Sunday gave a nice reply from Tone Kunst, Distriktsredaktør, verifying my report of 25/1-95. I never got a reply back then, but I decided to give the report a try...the third attempt on the Bodø-tx (now replaced by Røst) succeeded !

A big envelope from Radio Rønde-Syddjurs Lokalradio (as the full name is..) with a very friendly letter, together with perfect verification text, sveral stickers, cds with jingle samples, info about this local station, about Djursland district etc. from Niels A. Holst, Technical Manager - and also a dx-er, and even a FM-dxer :-D. I heard Radio Rønde on July, 30., 2006 during a fine DK-opening, and Niels tells me it was his wife who hosted the morning show which I received this beautiful morning.

QSL Hitradio RTL Sachsen 106.9

An e-mail follow-up yesterday gave a very friendly e-mail -with QSL-attachment- from Sophia Jakisch, Hörerservice. Hitradio RTL was received on phantom-tropo date February, 1., 2006, when cx went down to Lausitz and settled around Leipzig/Dresden for quite a while :-) QTH is Leipzig-Wiederau.
During this tropo opening I experienced my local radio on 106.9 being swept away by Hitradio RTL, as did Delta Radio on 105.9 with local Radio Søgne.
A very satisfying QSL, danke sehr, liebe Sophia :-)

Quick response and e-mail verification from Juan Carlos Borrego at Grup Teletaxi/Radio RM, verifying my June, 7., 2006 reception of this Catalunya-station. Had very strong signal, and came up with great jingles and ads. Freq. 105.4 MHz, tx Montserrat.

Another w-mail follow-up gave a good result tonight, as Else Petersen of youth radio station in Aalborg, Nordjylland sent a friendly e-mail with verification of my autumn report to Station 10. Aalborg´s near radio stations are gathered in an "ensemble", all stations send their px on three frequencies, 92.2/106.5/107.4 all of them are heard well here -during cx of course :-) Else tells that Station 10 also is a TV station now.

A brief but very welcome verification mail from the small near radio station DNR- Dronninglund Nærradio, heard on both 99.8 and 104.3 Mhz last Summer. (Rpt on 99.8) Limited hours, /afternoons mostly, qth Hjallerup (99.8 MHz). Dronninglund is situated between Aalborg and Sæby in Nordjylland. V/s is Kurt Jensen, Station manager. Takk til dig, Kurt !

Another follow-up sent yesterday resulted in a (very brief) verification on a Summer 2005 reception report. Only heard once, R Prime is a rare guest this far south. Not really a difficult frequency, but cx. to the east are not regular here in Kr.sand. V/s is one "Nippe" ?? QTH Grebbestad/Tanum (Norwegian land until 1600 apprx?), 300w.

Nice e-mail from Gunnar F. Novik, reporter and newscaster of Radio Sjuhärad, a SR.reg. station I only have managed to receive in 2005. No reply on the first attempt, but after a reminder I got this reply. QTH Borås-Dalsjøfors, 60 kw. This one really should be heard more frequently ?

E-mail reply from Marge-Ly Rookäär of Klassikaraadio tonight became my first FM-QSL from Estonia/Estland. I sent a taped report, tentative reception (strong indications) of Tropo-scatter of the Tallinn radiotower-tx (?) on 106.6 Mhz, heard in August (can´t remember exact date) 2006.

Also in the big MDR envelope came another QSL card, with full and perfect verification text, verifying 21. Sept reception of MDR 1 R Sachsen-Anhalt, which was heard very well towards the end of the tropo. Interesting enough these MDR regional key stations all carry local outlet, the 94.6 Brocken frequency carries local from Magdeburg. So a real good chance to hear that one later. Until then, nice to have this one verified. Thanx, MDR !!! ;-)

Cashing in some QSLs after the fine Tropo of Sept. 21., 2006,
today two verifications from Leipzig /Central of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk arrived in one big envelope, the first of my reception of 10 kw-tx of Brocken and MDR Figaro at this high QRG. I remember hearing this with splash from Bayern 4 Klassik on 107.9 !

A big envelope with six QSL-cards from Westdeutscher Rundfunk became my first QSLs of 2007. Report dates from February to July 2006, so it was a late answer, but WDR are reliable answerers, so no hurry :-)

WDR 5 90.6 tx Teutoburger Wald, the most common WDR to receive during tropo.
WDR 2 94.1 tx Münster-Baumberge, heard in February 2006
WDR 2 99.2 tx Langenberg, can be heard more often.
WDR 2 100.8 tx Aachen-Stolberg heard in February. My fourth verified German on 100.8 MHz !
WDR Eins Live 104.7 tx Nordhelle, heard twice this year.
WDR Eins Live 106.4 tx Aachen-Stolberg heard in February 2006.
The fascinating about WDR 2-reception is that they´re pretty audible - and they carry local/regional programmes. You just have to be there at the right time !
WDR sent loads of info, two pins and stickers as well. Danke sehr!

QSL R LatteMiele Friuli-Venezia-Giulia (TS) 107.3

This verification belongs in 2006 ! I received the e-mail from Giuseppe Corba before Christmas, and a Christmas card with LatteMiele logo (and cow!) Dec., 28.
I am not 100% sure if I can count this as QSL, but Giuseppe (the dx-er who discovered my reception report visiting the station) was allowed by the station manager to respond to my report -with some verifying words inbetween- so I guess I count this one as confirmed ! Tx is Muggia, TS and I heard local announcements from Latte Miele region FVG.
Many thanks to Giuseppe, a very nice and friendly guy!
(I still think I will contact the manager to get a direct reply as well...)

The beautiful QSL-card of Radio Slovenija arrived at my "desk" today, verifying my June, 12., cassette report. Frequency 92.0 is that of Beli Kriz, 5 kws. Now and then I can hear this tx and freq, two times this year... they also returned the enclosed IRC. No v/s, but I believe Radio Slovenija are reliable answeres nowadays.

QSL R Centar Studio Porec 89.6

E-mail QSL today, cassette report of sporadic e-reception on June, 18. resulted in this verification. Porec (should be a "hook" over the letter c) is a small town beautifully situated on the Istria peninsula in Croatia. My first FM-QSL from Croatia! no v/s, only staff signature. Had to do some detective work to nail this one, what I received was promo for their DJ show "Hit tjedna", and a Google search came up with Radio Centar Studio Porec as the possible solution, now confirmed :-)

Nice letter and QSL-card today, from Mario Ballabio at RaiWay, confirming my June, 12. report of Isoradio of RAI (RaiWay).
The tx received, this being a three-site frequency Mario agrees with me is that of Milano, since both RAI Auditorium (102.2) and also Isoradio of Milano-tx were simultaneously received with RDS. Mario also enclosed two pins of RaiWay. Tnx Mario ;-D

QSL Limfjord Plus 94.7 and Radio Limfjord 104.7

One of the most regular Danes to be received here is Radio Limfjord, sometimes even RDS is seen. In October they released their "Plus"-cahnnel, transmitting only on 94.7 MHz via Sundby-tx. I reported to them not long time after the launch, and also for fun took a report on 104.7 MHz which carry the regular Radio Limfjord-programme. Radio Limfjord is a very nice station to listen to, and one of the journalists I can hear is Dorit Glintborg, who is v/s of the letter I received yesterday. I was also invited to the station whenever I might be in the area.

Letter from Milano today, from well-known dx-personality Dario Monferini. He is v/s of "One-O-One Network", or "Cento uno" as their IDs and jingles say. Very friendly, informative and enthusiastic letter from Dario, who is also a keen FM-dxer, but the Milano area has no "free" frequencies for FM-dx, so nowadays Dario spends his dx-vacations at the Baleares, either in Mallorca or Menorca.....
The 13. of July gave good reeption (e-skip) towards mostly Italia, and Dario says this is Roma-tx. QSL-card of course, and promo-card, stickers, fridge magnet enclosed. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, DARIO !!!!!! :-D

Unfortunately (!) we had to go to visit a friend in Mandal, but I manged to get quite a few logs for a couple of hours when I came back. As on Sept., 21, Hessen was well heard, and also WDR had many of their highpowers registred here. Also Bayern 3 on 96.3 (Kreuzberg-Rhön) and 107.6 Antenne Thüringen to mention the best logs. RDS from some txs, like (HR2) on 95.5 (Hoher Meissner).

Two QSL-cards today, verification of two 21. of September reports, my first tropo receptions of Bayerischer Rundfunk :-) 90.7 MHz reception of Bayern 1, Ochsenkopf (received very well for a while) and 107.9 reception of Bayern 4 Klassik, Kreuzberg, the latter one very surprising, and with "exotic interference" from MDR Figaro 107.8. I am very happy with these QSLs, as receiving BR via Tropo is a dream come true, and another limit stretched.

21. of September a magnificent Tropo took place, and here in Kristiansand stations yet unheard appeared. I managed to Log three transmitters in Bayern (Oberbayern) and this is the first one verified. I didn´t have much time to listen taht day, but before I went to work I managed to write down some reports, including the report I mailed to Hit radio FFH yesterday. Verification of report by e-mail this morning, by Jörg Polinski, Leiter Technik. Tx is Heidelstein, Rhön in Oberbayern.

Very friendly e-mail last night from Bjørn Olav Karlsen, who is a co-founder of Misjonsradioen. This is a station which is received on a daily basis, since Grimstad is only 40-50 kms from here. Bjørn Olav is the father of Lars Olav Karlsen, for Norwegians known as one of the football players at a so-called "nerd team" (sports nerds, that is...), called Tufte IL.

Today an e-mail from Bjørn-Martin Brandett at P5 Solungen, a station I enjoyed on way to Trondheim, staying at a hotel near Hamar (Furnes). P5 Solungen is a near radio station for Solør, a country district in Hedmark, Norway. QTH is Kjølaberget, effective power 80-90 watts. Not so very far from Hamar, but still the v/s was impressed with the catch !

Skagen NR can be heard from time to time, never strong. I heard them during Skagen Festival, and it was a nice show to listen to, as also signal from over the pond (Skagerrak) were of acceptable quality. V/s was Lone (no family name mentioned)

William Hepburns tropospheric ducting forecast shows promising tendencies for the coming days, (+ also yesterday,was "yellow") but the conds haven´t really appeared - I have strong signals from neighbouring countries, however, and yesterday brought spot-cx and I was able to log some new NDR-stations. (Stadthagen-tx) Also WDR5, Teutoburger Wald 90.6 had a very good signal.

My first UK-FM QSL was a fact today, a short letter from Darren Hanley, Station Manager of Classic FM. A very nice station to listen to, heard twice this year during tropo - Tacolneston, Norfolk provides most of the menu when it comes to receiving BBC + Classic FM on FM.

Back from Trøndelag visit/vacation today, and a small heap of letters had arrived in the mean time. Among them a QSL-card (a real good old one, the standard blue Renascenca card) verifying my June, 19. report. It was a tentative report, but I had half a Renascenca ID taped, but other progr. details made me sure it was this one. An old aquaintance from MW, but there I never reported to them. QTH probably Monsanto, 50 kw.

Regarding my holiday, it wasn´t much dx-ing, I had a near radio night at Furnes near Hamar, and on return a quite surprising Sweden-tropo near Kongsvinger. Stations near Lake Siljan were received (possibly they´re often heard there, near the border ?)

Very good, well - the best ever conditions I´ve experienced towards Greece today, with many new stations, however mostly UNIDs, but still a fine experience. Language problem and lack of RDS, but I guess locals ads can solve some of the UNIDs.

This local radio transmits weekends only, limited hours, via ANR Hit FM (two freqs.) Ken Thøgersen at the station wrote the verifying words ;-)

The postal service arrived with one of the tropo results of July, 27. , a QSL-letter together with a DJ card and two stickers. Frquency was 103.0 from Lelystad, 50 kw. V/s Rob Korver also verified my Sky Radio 101 FM report last year - as also Radio Veronica belongs to Sky Radio Group. Thanks Rob !

On June 8. the conds. reached the Århus area with good strenghts, and ABC Solo FM was heard well. E-mail reply popped up today, verifying my rec. report. V/s Morten Bach, Programchef.

QSL Radio Horsens 97.9

Mads Sommer ("Teknik & Souschef") at Radio Horsens was kind and sent me a letter verifying my June, 28. reception. Tx is at Hovedgård, so this is a "slave" I was lucky to receive. I have heard them on 91.1 last year, but didn´t report to them then.

...also two cards verifying two NDR 1 Niedersachsen-transmissions, on respectively 95.8 (Aurich) and 105.4 (Cuxhaven) heard in June. Aurich 95.8 is hoften heard, by the way. I have a passion for NDR, and I try to report to all NDR-txs and programmes I receive up here !

The mailman brought me four QSL-cards from NDR today, among them two cards verifying my 1. of May reception of the two NDR 1 Radio MV frequencies 90.5 (Helpterberg) and 91.0 (Marlow)

Very good tropo

today, when I came home from work, the usual German txs had marvellous signals, Steinkimmen 91.1 and 105.7 had RDS (for the first time here) and some low-powers at Helgoland (50w! 100w!) came in rather good. The good stuff, however, was provided from the NL, with the regionals R Drenthe and R Noord and the network stations like 100% NL came up: An excellent day !

Not the best of conds., but still a slight lift over Skagerrak gave some Danish near-radio : As usual Guld FM on many freqs. (Northwest-Jutland)

At last I could receive LVN/Løkken-Vrå Nærradio with own px (106.7 MHz) . Good reception, as indicator Ingstrup (107.8) had S 4-5.

Around 12.00 MESZ a brief e-s here, and two logs only, R Beograd on 90.9 (ID) and Radio Trojka on 89.3 (not the Pole, but Serbo-Croatic (or similar) language. I wonder where it´s from ?

Radio Hirtshals responded quickly to my reception report, e-mail from Henrik Ledet, Programchef. Frequency 105.6 MHz, which is an easier catch than the other fq. , 105.0.

Dx Diary launch

Trying out a new blog, with dx only stuff : Some loggings, QSLs (hopefully) and dx-related stuff, what I enjoy to listen to etc. Nowadays I am 100 % FM-dxer, because of my strategically placed QTH..... (Kristiansand , Norway) I have sent some reports recently (tropo logs only) and the results will show up here in Dx Diary. The Sporadic-e reports aren´t sent out (like last year !) but they will be, some time....
